Takayasu's arteritis as a cause of carotidynia: clinical and imaging features.

چکیده
• Vol 10 • February 2008 158 Carotidynia is a neck pain syndrome associated with tenderness on palpation over the carotid bifurcation. The differential diagnosis for carotidynia includes largevessel vasculitides such as Takayasu’s and temporal arteritis, arteriosclerosis, thrombosis, dissection and aneurysm. Carotidynia, particularly in a young patient or a patient without risk factors for atherosclerosis, should alert the clinician to the possibility of arterial pain and subsequent large-vessel vasculitides. We report the clinical and imaging findings in a young patient with Takayasu’s arteritis as a cause of carotidynia.

Development of a colour Doppler ultrasound scoring system in patients of Takayasu's arteritis and its correlation with clinical activity score (ITAS 2010).
OBJECTIVES The objectives of this study were to develop a scoring system with colour Doppler ultrasound (CDUS) in patients with Takayasu's arteritis, to correlate the CDUS score with the Indian Takayasu's Activity Score (ITAS) and to assess the degree of agreement between CDUS and angiogram in the diagnosis of Takayasu's arteritis. METHODS Nineteen angiographically confirmed Takayasu's arteri...
متن کاملTakayasu's Arteritis presenting as a dissecting aortic aneurysm history: a case report
INTRODUCTION Takayasu's Arteritis, formerly known as "pulseless disease", is a chronic idiopathic vasculitis which affects the large vessels in the body. First described in the 1800's, this rare condition is more commonly found in Asian women in their 40's. The aorta and its main branches are the primary vessels affected, with the most typical features reflected as ischemia or aneurysm formatio...

متن کاملDelayed contrast-enhanced MRI of the aortic wall in Takayasu's arteritis: initial experience.
OBJECTIVE Delayed contrast-enhanced MRI is increasingly being used for cardiac viability imaging. Takayasu's arteritis is a rare inflammatory disorder of unknown cause that affects the aorta, its major branches, and the pulmonary artery; it is characterized by inflammation and fibrosis in the arterial wall. We report our initial experience with seven patients (six women, one man; age range, 25-...
متن کاملDiagnostic approach and proposed criteria for the clinical diagnosis of Takayasu's arteriopathy.
The criteria proposed for the clinical diagnosis of Takayasu's disease (chronic inflammatory arteriopathy of unknown origin) were based on clinical and angiographic data from 108 Japanese patients: 96 with Takayasu's disease and 12 with another disease of the aorta. The criteria consist of one obligatory criterion (age less than or equal to 40 years), two major criteria (left and right mid subc...
